Dr. Alan R. Deroy Biography

Dr. Alan R. Deroy graduated in the top one-fifth of his class at the prestigious Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 2001. He completed his residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at St. John North Shores Hospital, Harrison Twp, MI, in 2004, where he was trained to perform today’s cutting-edge surgical procedures.  He has been practicing in the Washington DC area since 2004.

Dr. Deroy is an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association. He has publications in both the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery. He lectures to the general public as well as medical colleagues. Dr. Deroy has a special interest in Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery, and Wound Care.

Dr. Deroy is licensed to practice podiatric medicine in Maryland and Virginia. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery attaining Diplomate status.  He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Currently, Dr. Deroy is serving as Chief of Podiatry in the Department of Surgery at Doctor’s Community Hospital in Lanham.  Dr. Deroy has active privileges at Doctor’s Community Hospital and at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. He also has privileges at SurgCenter of Greenbelt.  From 2008-2015 he was a staff physician at the Center for Wound Healing at Doctor’s Community Hospital dealing with limb salvage.  Dr. Deroy resides in Potomac with his wife and daughter and loves to play tennis and travel in his spare time.
