Preventing infection by making an appointment

Foot care for people with diabetes is one of the most overlooked aspects of diabetes management.
All people with diabetes should have their feet checked at least once a year by a doctor or podiatrist.
High blood sugar levels over time can cause nerve damage and circulation problems. Poor circulation makes healing an infection difficult to heal. It is important to detect problems early. Sores, ingrown toenails or other problems that go left unnoticed or untreated can put you at risk for infection.
